We are so lucky to receive a monthly visit from Paws to Read!

Do you love dogs? Want to practice reading to a specially trained Paws & Think dog who loves listening to stories? Paws to Read is a program that makes therapy dogs available for anyone wanting to practice reading with a non-judgmental listener. These therapy dogs are specially trained family pets ready to sit with those who might need extra practice or who just love reading and dogs.

You can register for a 10-15 minute session, and reluctant readers are especially welcome. You don’t have to sign up in advance—you can just drop by anytime between 10-11 am. But if you do sign up, it helps us know you’re coming and gives you first priority for a specific time slot.

Visits occur the 4th Saturday of the Month from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Local businesses will donate a portion of sales, hold raffles, and offer specials, with 100% of funds raised going directly to the cause. Royal Readathon

Join us on Saturday, May 25th, for a Royal Read-a-Thon at the Curious Squirrel Bookshop! From 11 am to 1 pm, our Royal Readers will be continuously reading stories aloud for two straight hours. Feel free to drop by anytime during this period to enjoy story time, hear diverse voices, and learn about the important causes our readers are passionate about.

Meet Your Readers:

Miss Crossroads of America USA

After battling chronic kidney disease and having two kidney transplants, Joy Araujo became an advocate for kidney disease awareness and hopes to inspire others to thrive despite illness. As a royal reader, her goal is to encourage young readers to accept those with physical differences and to continue fighting through physical health challenges that they may face.

Miss Hamilton County USA

Halle is passionate about educating others about ways to be more eco conscious and sustainable in their daily lives. As a Royal reader, she hopes to inspire all readers to do their part in keeping our earth clean. It’s something we can all come together and do.

Miss Heart of Indiana

Jullianna is an Argentine-American passionate about spreading a message of confidence and self-love. She loves to read and can often be found with a book! Jullianna wants to spread the message that everyone’s unique personalities make the world a better place!


Miss Carmel Indiana Teen USA

Jetta Hayes will be competing for the title of Miss Indiana Teen USA on June 8th. At 16 years old and a sophomore at Westfield High School, Jetta is passionate about her platform, Jet-Esteem. Through Jet-Esteem, she aims to empower girls by boosting their self-esteem and confidence. She helps them identify their "beams"—an activity, place, or person that brings out the best in them and allows them to shine.

Mr. Daniel Sings

Mr. Daniel’s goal is to provide rich experiences of joy, musical expression, creativity, gratitude, and learning that fully engage the minds, bodies, and hearts of young children and the people who love them.

He has been playing music for preschool-age kids since 2010. When he moved back to Indianapolis in late 2013 he began a wide range of public and private performances, classes, and jam-session sing-a-longs!

In 2020 Mr. Daniel started making video content for very young children. His goal is to create innovative, thoughtful, and helpful screen-time content that parents and caregivers can feel great about.

Whether on screen or in person, Mr. Daniel shares his love of music with children using singing, dancing, games, movements, and instruments. He plays traditional children's classics as well as popular music while exposing little ones to concepts like beat, rhythm, pitch, melody, and tempo. Mr. Daniel helps children explore their feelings, nature, numbers, friendship, humor, and all the other good stuff little ones should learn. And all while rocking out to some catchy tunes!
